e-Sword HD: Bible Study to Go App Reviews

I have much more expensive Bible software on my iPad, but e-Sword is by far more convenient and easy to use, and in many ways just as powerful. Excellent free resources and you dont lose those resources if you change devices. In fact, the PC versions paid Bibles transfer to the iPad version. Great work!

I dont usually buy many apps but did for E-Sword. Small price to pay for such a powerful tool.

Got the link in GOCC and decided to downloaded in my ipad. Since then is my best app. For discovering and revealing things i didnt know about life.

You have to pay $5 for the app and then you have to pay for editions of the Bible. For example, the NLT is $15. Absolutely and totally ridiculous. I really, really wish I could get a refund for this app.

This is a great, easy to use bible app that you need to add to your collection. It is my go to program. Definitely give it a try.

No other Bible app gives you more resources at no cost then eSword! This app connected to a projector makes for easy classroom teaching and presentations!

Ive been using this app for years. This is my first time on the apple platform but it works just as well. Years ago I purchased some add-ons and now they download seamlessly on my new tablet . Well worth the money compared to the big named pricy apps.

This is by far the best study app Ive ever seen. As a preacher I get to study a lot,but I still work a full time job so it has to be easy and accessible and this is both. The amount of commentaries available that are free to download as well as the ones you may have to pay for, which are extremely affordable makes this a daily part of my study life. I have also recommend this app to everyone I encounter, you simply cannot beat esword!!!

Thank you for a Great program and all the hard work you put into it. Ive used the computer version for many years now and love the resources you provide for Free in both. Keep up the good work (i.e. Labor of love) many of us out here know what youve done to get to this point. This is the BEST resource out there by far. Perhaps people should grateful for what they get (for $5) rather than what they dont get, or think they want. Praise GOD that YOU are using your talents to spread the WORD of GOD for free or at as little cost as possible. Heck, Id have given you 6 stars if I could have! This is a gem in the App Store. Glad that I can finally read all my PC version material on my iPad. It is really nicely done and very speedy with pretty decent features. Why the three star review? Not because of the price. Imagine paying for an app with tons a freebies! No, the loss of two stars are sadly several features missing, including the very widely used and popular ability to highlight several verses at a time. With this, you are only allowed one verse at a time (same on the PC version as well), so if you have several verses to highlight, it becomes very tedious. Also, when you highlight, the page moves and the verses jump and this can really be annoying but not too much of an issue as to dislike the app. Another issue is the gestures feature rarely works. You still have to use the onscreen navigation buttons to advance to the next chapter and they can interfere with highlighting and selecting verses. Not a deal breaker but I do hope Rick fixes the gestures soon. He claims that some devices are "too sensitive" and you need to swipe in the perfect place for it to work, but I still hold to the app needing updated and fixed. All in all this app shines and though it is lacking some key features (creating your own highlighters and styles, highlighting more than one verse at a time, gestures needing fixed, footnotes added to Bibles, being able to hide the top and bottom navigation bars upon tapping the screen, maybe syncing your highlights, notes, etc. to a server or cloud service or Evernote or something similar, onscreen note icon because you never know where your notes are unless you tap the notes button, split screen view, and perhaps a few more features Im sure Ill think of that are pretty basic for a Bible study app). This is a great app,and I love it but its not super great. It is wonderful but needs some improvement.

I was so glad to find eSword available for iPad. I have used the Windows desktop version for years and have bought many of the premium content modules. All the content I purchased in the past for the desktop was also available to use on the iPad, all I had to do was download it and activate it with my user email and password. I use it for all my bible reading as well as in church and for study. The layout really works well for the iPad with the icons at the bottom to access the various resources. The content is second to none. I use many of the Bible versions along with dictionaries, lexicons, and commentaries to deepen my understanding of Gods Word. I have used a number of other Bible apps including Logos offerings and the very popular YouBible, but I find this one to be the very best as far as ease of use and available content. The layout is intuitive and not filled with a lot of fluff, it just works. Great you can have it on your desktop or tablet and have access to all the same content. Great job Rick!

This is my favorite Bible study app on the iOS, OS X and Windows platforms . Full of great features and useful study tools. I only wish that the iOS version had the ability to copy multiple verses just like the Windows version. Also, the ability to read the material with the tool bars hidden would be another feature that would make this great app perfect.
